Such a poser!

Drew took Avi swimming at the Sanderson Center (indoor pool) a couple of weekends ago, and before we left the house, I told her to let me take a picture of her in her cute swimsuit. She immediately gave me this pose, and Drew and I died out laughing!
Have no idea where that came from!

She's graduated...

That's right, she's finally graduated to her "big girl" toddler bed! Yes, I know she is 2 and a half, but she never once tried to climb out of her bed or even attempted to get out of her bed. However, with a baby sister coming who will also need to use the crib, we decided it was time for Avi to start transitioning into a big girl bed. I must say she has done VERY well so far. She has not tried to get out of her bed at night or during nap time, which of course has been my fear, especially since she has always been such a good sleeper.

Her new favorite pastime is putting all of her stuffed animals in her bed (and anything else she can find) and playing with/reading to them. Lots of fun.

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a conference in Memphis. Avi stayed mostly with Drew, and I think they had a pretty good time. The above picture was taken on Sunday morning before they went to church. Drew said he was kneeling down trying to take a picture of her and she decided she needed to bend down as well!

Of course, she also napped really well while I was out of town...Drew had to wake her up from a nap because she had slept so long. Too sweet.

And this, well, we found this big guy on our back patio one evening. Drew went outside to put something in his truck, and he found this huge turtle. Crazy.

Happy Easter

We had a fun Easter weekend spending time with family and friends. We went to church this morning and then went to eat lunch with Drew's mom, grandparents and aunt and uncle. It has been a beautiful weekend.

Avi enjoyed running around Nana's yard and picking flowers.

Yesterday (Saturday), we went to an Easter egg hunt in Blackhawk, MS, with Drew's grandmother's extended family. There were a ton of people there, and Avi had a great time. She was exhausted by the end of the day and slept all the way home.

Ahhh, the joys of being 2 and eating a cupcake. Usually Avi just eats the icing off the cupcake, but this time she actually ate most of the cupcake!

We started off the day with a fun trip to Jack Fountain's birthday party at Jumping G's. Avi was shy and not sure she wanted to participate at first, but then she got into it and started sliding down this inflatable. She had a blast, and she didn't want to leave when it was time to go to the egg hunt! Happy birthday, Jack!

Spring Break?

Well, we spent most of our spring break like this...on the couch watching Mickey Mouse. You may think that sounds like a great spring break, but unfortunately the Mickey Mouse watching also came with a pretty sick 2 and a half year old. My mom, Avi and I headed to Georgia to visit my sister on the first Friday of spring break, and when we got to Birmingham, Avi started running fever and she had a pretty bad cough. We ended up turning around and heading back to Starkville. She ran fever for 4 days straight and felt pretty yucky. We were glad to have our sweet little Avi back by the end of the week. So, spring break turned out a little differently than we had planned, but I guess that's just the nature of taking care of children!

I was able to catch her singing this one morning while I was getting ready for work. So sweet.

You're a good mom

This morning I gave Avi a bath, and I washed her hair. Drew usually dries her hair after her baths, but he was running, so I started drying her hair. Right after I started drying it, she looked at me and said, "You're a good mom." Can you say MELT my HEART?! I said, "Thank you sweetheart," and I gave her a kiss. SOOOO sweet. And, yes, she's been calling me mom or moms lately, unless she's whining, and then it's usually mommy. I'm not making a big deal about it, but it is strange to hear her calling me mom like she's a teenager! And for the record, I find it sad that on a Saturday morning we were up by 6:30, and she and I both had bathed before 8 for no good reason! I've been fighting getting up early on Saturday mornings for a long time, but I think I should just start owning it, especially since there is another one on the way! And, I promise the next time I post there will be some pictures involved!

It's a Girl!

Drew and I went to the doctor in Jackson last Thursday. We got a great report. The baby looks great so far, and we are having another girl! Very exciting. Of course, Drew's first response was "at least we don't have to buy anymore clothes." Ha, if he only knew it doesn't work that way! We told Avi she is going to have a baby sister, but I'm not sure she really understands. She did tell her Sunday School teacher Sunday that she was going to have a baby sister, so maybe she does understand! It will be interesting!
